Ekii! (Hello, in Tuvan)
This page is an attempt to let new "khoo-maniacs" find their way to our favorite music and culture links, Tuvan and non-Tuvan.

Big SkyExcellent information on khöömei (xöömei) singing, complete with sound spectrograms and videos is available at the site of our friend Steve Sklar, with Quicktime Huun-Huur-Tu video clips (5-20Mb and well worth the wait!). Steve traveled to Tuva in 1995, and shares his impressions in the Photo Gallery. He learned to sing khöömei, and has been invited to give workshops - from Finland to Canada. Steve and his wife Johnna perform with the band Big Sky.

Scythian Panther, symbol of TuvaThe Friends of Tuva is an informal international group of people interested in Tuvan culture, music and stamps. They share this infectious fascination with Tuva with the late Nobel Prize physicist Richard Feynman. The Tuva Trader features a plethora of Tuvan audio, video and books, available for ordering online. A compilation of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) is maintained and updated monthly by Kerry Yackoboski. This veritable source of information can also be found on the Usenet, in the discussion group alt.culture.tuva. The newsgroup is a good forum to keep track of the latest news on the Tuvan front, official and unofficial concert listings, and to make contacts with overtone singing enthusiasts worldwide.
